SPACES & GAPS BETWEEN TEETH

Are you unhappy with the gaps between your teeth?

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Spaces and gaps are a common reason people feel self-conscious about their smile, causing them to shy away from smiling to their fullest.

Spaces and gaps are common, but they don’t have to be. A ‘gappy’ smile is generally caused by wide spaces between the teeth and small genetic teeth size. Gaps may also occur due to missing teeth, either because a tooth was lost from trauma, needed to be taken out, or perhaps just never grew in (genetically missing).

Some people may find they have small tudigaps that aren’t really noticeable, while others may have larger gaps (particularly between their two front teeth) and be unhappy with their smile.

Spaces and gaps are a common reason people feel self-conscious about their smile, causing them to shy away from smiling to their fullest. If you’re looking for a solution to fix the gaps between your teeth, Studio Smiles has over 40 years combined experience. Book your appointment today, and smile with confidence.

FAQs
Why do I have gaps in my teeth after cleaning?

Making sure you’re routinely cleaning your teeth each day is vital to your oral health. Although it may seem a little daunting at the time, it’s common to notice small spaces or gaps in between your teeth after cleaning. When we clean, we remove the bits of food and bacteria (tartar) that hardens onto the teeth. Gradually the tartar starts to feel like our natural teeth. Then, when the tartar is cleaned off as a part of your professional 6 monthly check up, the true tooth surface is revealed, making the teeth feel smaller or more ‘gappy’. This is a good reminder of the importance of good oral hygiene to minimise the buildup of tartar.

Is it a bad thing if I’ve got gaps in my teeth?

Having gaps between teeth isn’t necessarily a bad thing and if they are not overly bothersome they can be maintained as is. However, large spaces do make it more likely for the adjacent teeth to move or drift with time. Spaces can also encourage food trapping making hygiene more challenging. Whether or not you decide to close the gaps in your teeth is entirely up to you.

How do I get rid of gaps in my teeth?

If you’re looking to close the gaps between your teeth, the first step is understanding what has caused them. Gaps may be treated with teeth straightening such as Invisalign, or by building up the size of your teeth with porcelain (ceramic) veneers. Alternatively, if your space is caused by a missing tooth, the space may be filled in with a dental implant.

We suggest having a chat with one of our highly qualified dentists to find out what treatment would be best suited to you. In the meantime, you can refer to our treatment options below to learn more.

What are my treatment options?

Every case is unique, so we take the time to really understand your situation and your lifestyle to determine what treatment would be best suited to you.

Invisalign
A popular modern treatment, Invisalign is the best way to fix crooked teeth without the need for metal braces. It involves a series of clear trays made with an amazing 3D technology to help your teeth come into their new position, completely pain free. The length of your treatment will solely depend on the amount of tooth movement required, however teeth are generally straightened within 6-12 months on average. Porcelain (Ceramic) Veneers
A fantastic option for those wanting a perfect smile, ceramic porcelain veneers are thin, ultra-strong, tooth-shaped porcelain shells that bond directly over your natural teeth. Porcelain (ceramic) veneers can mask mild and moderate misalignment, while also improving the colour, shape, and size of your teeth. In only 2-4 weeks, porcelain veneers will change your smile, allowing you to feel more confident than ever before. Dental ImplantsThe closest thing to a natural tooth. Dental implants are the modern-day replacement for missing teeth. A titanium screw is used in place of the tooth root, and a porcelain (ceramic) crown is placed on top. This involves an implant surgery whereby the implant is placed into the jawbone under a local anesthetic or an oral/IV sedation. Dental implants at Studio Smiles are completed with our special pain-free minimal incision technique. Compared to the traditional implant technique, our digitally-guided implants are done quicker, with less scarring, and higher accuracy. The result is a new gap-free smile.
