Teeth Extraction Procedure

A Simplified Journey to Pain-Free Smile

Are you searching for a hassle-free wisdom tooth removal solution? Look no further, Wisdom Clinics Australia offers a seamless process for removing your wisdom teeth. Our focus is on affordability, convenience, and a pain-free experience for our patients.

Here’s how the process works

  • X-Ray: We start by conducting a bulk-billed X-ray at your nearest radiology centre. This X-ray helps in proper planning and visualization of the wisdom teeth and surrounding structures before the surgery
  • Telehealth Consultation: After the X-ray, we conduct a telehealth consultation to discuss your surgery with you. This consultation can be conducted via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, and it takes around 10 minutes. During this consultation, we go through a checklist with you and answer any questions you may have.
  • Surgery Day: After the telehealth consultation, if you feel comfortable with the procedure, you can schedule your day of surgery. Before the day of surgery, you will receive a care package in the mail along with information regarding the procedure, hot tips, and more.

Problems with impacted wisdom teeth

We make the process as easy as possible for our patients. You can either call us or book your own initial telehealth consultation online. You are asked to input your credit details and explained that although there is no charge, the credit card is held on file, and in case of a no-show, a $20 fee is charged.

In the lead-up to your telehealth appointment, you will receive an SMS reminder and email marketing campaign related to wisdom teeth issues and removal. If you do not schedule surgery after the telehealth consultation, we will follow up with you in two days to see if you have changed your mind.

At Wisdom Clinics Australia, we are committed to providing a caring and stress-free experience for our patients. Our team is here to assist you at all stages, from pre-surgery to post-operative care, ensuring a smooth journey to a pain-free smile.

What You Can Expect

During the procedure

Your dentist or oral surgeon may use one of three types of anesthesia, depending on the expected complexity of the wisdom tooth extraction and your comfort level. Options include:

After the procedure

After wisdom tooth extraction at Wisdom Clinics Australia, patients are given post-operative instructions and may experience swelling, discomfort, and bleeding. Pain management options and follow-up appointments are discussed to ensure proper healing.

  1. Local anesthesia
Your dentist or oral surgeon administers local anesthesia with one or more injections near the site of each extraction. Before you receive an injection, your dentist or surgeon will likely apply a substance to your gums to numb them. You're awake during the tooth extraction. Although you'll feel some pressure and movement, you shouldn't experience pain.
  2. Sedation anesthesia
Your dentist or oral surgeon gives you sedation anesthesia through an intravenous (IV) line in your arm. Sedation anesthesia suppresses your consciousness during the procedure. You don't feel any pain and will have limited memory of the procedure. You'll also receive local anesthesia to numb your gums.
  3. General anesthesia
In special situations, you may be put into a deep sleep whereby you lose consciousness during the procedure. Your surgical team monitors your medication, breathing, temperate, fluids and blood pressure the entire time. You’ll experience no pain and have no memory of the procedure. Wake up with your wisdom teeth removed.

During wisdom tooth extraction, your dentist or oral surgeon:

  • Makes an incision in the gum tissue to expose the tooth and bone
  • Removes bone that blocks access to the tooth root
  • Divides the tooth into sections if it's easier to remove in pieces
  • Removes the tooth
  • Cleans the site of the removed tooth of any debris from the tooth or bone
  • Stitches the wound closed to promote healing, though this isn't always necessary
  • Places gauze over the extraction site to control bleeding and to help a blood clot form
  1. Personalised post-operation care package
As you probably already know, sticking to soft foods and liquids in the days following your surgery is recommended. To make this easier for you - we will mail you a personalised package with some surprise goodies to help you look after yourself and stay on track for a speedy recovery!
  2. Post-operation telehealth appointment
Two weeks following your surgery, you will receive a message from us prompting you to book a post-op telehealth consultation. The consultation is an opportunity for us to check-in and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
  3. 24/7 support via online chat and SMS
If you have any questions before your post-op appointment, no need to wait! We will be accessible 24/7 via WhatsApp, virtual chat and SMS. You can also give us a call anytime during business hours - whichever you prefer.
